What Is Microneedling

Renova Spa located in Temecula, California focuses on enhancing your natural beauty to create a new, organic, and balanced appearance by utilizing the most advanced aesthetic technologies currently available.

One of the many treatments we use to help you achieve the perfect look is micro-needling. The goal of micro-needling involves pricking the skin with multiple tiny sterile needles to promote natural collagen production during the process of the body’s healing response. This will allow your skin to become firmer and more rejuvenated.

Micro-needling provides many efficient advantages to the skin. It can substantially improve appearance for a more youthful glowy look.

Benefits of Micro-needling

Micro-needling is most frequently applied to the face and other body parts. Your skin will become firmer, brighter, and healthier. This is a minimally invasive, non-surgical rejuvenation treatment that takes anywhere from 30-40 min.

  • Reduce the appearance of acne scarring
  • Diminish large pores
  • Helps the appearance of wrinkles
  • Evens out skin tone
  • Enhances effects of topical skincare products
  • Improves skin texture
  • Treats fine lines
  • Stimulate collagen production
  • Decreases stretch marks

How Micro needling Works?

Your skin needs to produce more collagen for microneedling to be effective. The skin responds to the procedure’s pinpricks by growing new collagen-rich tissue, which results in minor skin damage.

This new skin tissue has a more consistent tone and texture. The skin frequently loses collagen with age or trauma. By encouraging the growth of new skin tissue, more collagen may help firm the skin.

How to prepare for the treatment

The right pre-treatment care will help minimize side effects while ensuring your desired results will have a greater outcome.

  • Avoid using topical medication like retinoids, exfoliants, topical antibiotics, and acids 7 days prior to your treatment
  • Ibuprofen, Motrin, and Advil should not be consumed for at least 48 hours before your procedure. These will stop your body from producing the natural healing process, which is necessary for your skin to regenerate
  • Refrain from IPL/Laser treatments, unprotected sun exposure, or sunburn for at least 2 weeks
  • If you are prone to a cold sore, take an antiviral agent 2 days prior and the day of treatment
  • Avoid blood thinning agents for 1 week
  • Moles, warts, or actinic (solar) keratosis cannot be treatment
  • Must have clean skin upon arriving at your appointment

During a micro needling procedure, what can expect?

A cream is typically applied before starting the microneedling procedure. A specialized tool will then be used by the technician to begin the microneedling procedure. This starts the induction of new collagen and elastin into the treated area and activates the skin’s natural healing processes. Clients should be able to return to their regular activities immediately after treatment, should they choose to do so. The entire procedure typically lasts one to four hours.

Usually, microneedling requires very minimal downtime. Over the course, the newly activated skin proteins will produce, gradually enhancing the texture and appearance of the skin. Typically, a few sessions are required to get the best results from microneedling and enable the continuous induction of elastin and collagen.

Post- Care

  • For best results, it’s crucial to take care of your skin after a micro-needling procedure. You will be given a mask by your technician to use right away at home. For at least 3 days post-treatment do not use any Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy acids, Retinol, Vitamin A & C, or anything perceived as an active skincare
  • Avoid exercising, swimming, and any harmful activities that may cause excessive sweating or environments with potential bacteria
  • Avoid anti-inflammatory medications
  • Avoid applying makeup and sunscreen for up to 72 hours.

What modifications you noticed in the skin after micro needling: The skin is simply healing during the first few days’ worth of irritation or redness. Three days should pass before the redness fades.. Your skin could also feel tight, swollen, dry, or sensitive in the day’s right after the procedure. Within a week, it might also start to flake off.

Is there a risk involved with microneedling therapy?

Since the procedure is non-invasive and non-surgical, there are no risks associated with it overall, but the first few days may see some redness or mild irritation as the skin heals. The redness should go away in a few days. Your skin could also feel tight, swollen, dry, or sensitive in the days right after the procedure. Within a week, it might also start to flake off.

Who is not a good candidate for Microneedling?

  • Pregnant/Nursing
  • Epilepsy
  • Speculative Lesions
  • Cutting, bruising, or open wounds (the area is avoided)
  • While menstruating (skin is more sensitive and recommends waiting)
  • Keloid scarring (the area is avoided)
